Phoenix’s First Word

by admin on April 1, 2010

I have a serious need for Scentsy candles and anything that smells yums!  It helps set the tone for the given season.  So, I had to run off to pick up my latest order that had just come in.  Yes, I’m TOO impatient for my friend to get around to delivering–I will come to YOU!  Even if it is right in the middle of dinnertime when I should be cooking.  Dinner can wait.  Sorry you’re starving.  I need my friggin Scentsy candles.  And I need them NOW.  This day was no different.

Gregg was kind enough to watch young Master Phoenix so I could run off sans kids so I could have that awesome smelling wax in my hands that much faster.  Phoenix was in a bit of a mood that day.  We think he was teething or something.  Regardless, Gregg put on his brave daddy cape and took over for the quick 15 minutes or so that I would be gone.

Oh my…they smelled divine!  This was right before Halloween so I had some Autumn-inspired ones…baked apple pie, pumpkin roll, caramel spice, toasted caramel sugar…I was in euphoria…until I walked in the house…

Gregg looked like he had blood dripping from his eyes and ears.  Eww.  This must not have been good.  Phoenix screamed and cried the entire time I was gone.  Poor little guy!  Poor hubby!!  I’m the bad guy because I just HAD to have my candles right at that moment.  I suck at patience.  Gregg put Phoenix on the ground, and he sprint crawled over to me.  I picked him up, and after a big, huge, deep sigh, he said, “mama”!  Holy-Melt-My-Friggin-Heart Moment!  Phoenix, well played!!  You own me!!

That is so precious. How sweet and how true the baby cries when we leave and makes us feel bad about leaving, then melts our hearts by calling us by name.
